North Carolina

Last week was Spring Break and Justin and I decided to meet up with some friends of ours in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. We were able to find a beach house for $300 for the week, which was a phenomenal price. Splitting it between the two families the price was about $38 a day for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo on the beach! We had some problems with our rental car and Justin had a last minute assignment to finish up so we ended up leaving a lot later then we planned, but it all worked out. Jackson did amazing on the drive and spent most of the time reading books or watching movies.

We went to visit my Aunt, Uncle and little cousin who live in South Carolina since it was literally on the way to NC. We were really glad we got to see them and had a lot of fun visiting and eating some delicious food! We arrived at Carolina Beach around 10pm on Tuesday, about 20 minutes before our friends Tom & Mary Arnett. Jackson was so tired when we got there that he didn't care about anything or anyone and went straight to sleep. We didn't do a lot on Wednesday, mostly just getting settled and grocery shopping. The kids had a lot of fun playing together in the house since it was a little chilly outside, and the 4 of us got caught up.

Thursday was much warmer, so we spent most of the day at the beach. It wasn't quite warm enough to swim, but it was definitely warm enough to skim board and play in the sand. I was slightly successful at skim-boarding although I have more bruises on my knees then I do typically. Its definitely something I would do again, although I'm not sure Justin feels the same way. The boys had a blast building sand castles and digging giants holes. (and by boys I mean the men--although the little ones did enjoy it too =) The boys all worked together to build a giant hole. They began with the intension of trying to make a hole large enough that the kids couldn't get out of. The were indeed successful! We came back later in the afternoon to watch the tide come in and a couple of other groups of people had greatly enlarged the hole. By the time the tide reached it it could easily fit 4-5 men inside it, and was about mid chest in depth. It was definitely a lot of fun for everyone!

The boys were completely covered in sand as you might imagine, so we threw them all in the tub together. Super cute pictures, but it didn't last very long as everyone's stomaches were growling.

Friday we took a long walk on the beach and went to the Carolina Beach boardwalk. It wasn't quite what we expected, but we found a fun place to take a group photo and then had some delicious hotdogs! We even found a new brand of root beer at the local grocery store that evening. Which was delicious, definitely in the top 5!

It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun. We stayed up way too late most nights playing games and the boys got along so well. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they played together seeing how there wasn't very much space or very many toys. Jackson is still asking for Joey and "his Moses"and keeps saying we need to go to their house. Jackson adored "baby Moses", maybe a little too much for Moses' liking. He followed him just about everywhere he went trying to "help" him do whatever it was that he was trying to do. It was fun to watch him with Moses, even if Moses was mostly annoyed by his presence. Hopefully we can keep up this tradition and maybe next year we'll have a few more families...*hint hint* Jason-Brittany& Caleb-Lindsey ;)
This last photo is for Mom & Dad Hendricks. We thought we'd take the picture you wanted, since last time your kids were too impatient to take it.
